Adoption Information

We do our best to create a safe and comfortable environment for animals to live in at the pound, but as good as it is, it isn't a home - we need you to provide that!
These animals arrived at the pound for various reasons. Most were strays, some were abandoned, other have more complex stories.

There is no time limit on how long we will keep an animal before it is adopted.

Please note:

Animals in our care are never euthanized due to lack of space or because they take too long to be adopted. Dogs are only euthanized if they are suffering from distress that can not be treated by a veterinarian, or if their aggressive behavior is a threat to public safety. Cats are only euthanized if they are in critical distress that cannot be treated by a veterinarian.

Things to Consider Before Adopting The objective of the NACS adoption program is to facilitate the successful adoption of animals to permanent, stable, loving homes. If the adoption is successful, an animal will not become a future encumbrance on citizens, animal welfare organizations, charities or animal control agencies. In order to be successful the adopter must be able to provide appropriate care for the animal and be a well-suited personality match for the animal. The following points are meant to address common reasons why adoptions are unsuccessful and each point should be given serious thought before committing to an adoption. Choosing to discuss any of these points with us will not cause your application to be denied. We strongly encourage questions and discussion prior to adoption in order to prevent future problems. The legislated authority to collect the personal information necessary to confirm these purposes is section 26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. If you require further information regarding the collection of your personal information, please contact NACS. We reserve the right to refuse any applications.
