Dogs available for adoption

Quinn

Update: Quinn loves to play with other dogs but she can come off a little rude as she's very vocal, so she may be to much for some dogs. We have been working with her with the "look at this" game to lower down her re-activeness on leash. Quinn would love a big back yard so she can bolt around it and get her zoomies out!

Quinn is a 3 year old female border collie mix. With the breed comes a whole lot of endless energy so she'll need consistent exercise and brain stimulation. Quinn is still learning a lot of manners and will ideally need to work with a trainer. She walks well on a harness but does get reactive to other dogs on leash. Once she knows a dog she loves playing with them, she's been with small dogs and larger ones. Quinn is going to need a lot of patience to work with her anxieties towards people as well. She has a lot of voice and a lot to say. We would prefer a home that knows the breed well, we're not very sure how she is with cats as she has showed interest but collies tend to have prey drive. We want to give Quinn the best possible chance of a forever home.

Quinns adoption fee is $400 and she is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, deflead, and vaccinated. She comes with a Welcome Package from VCA Island Vet as well as six weeks of free pet insurance from Petsecure. If you are interested in adopting Quinn, please email us at nanaimo.animalcontrol@shaw.ca and we will email you a fillable application form. The successful applicant will be invited to come in and meet her.

Adella

Sweet loving Adella is ready for her forever home!

We believe Adella is a 2-3 years old Rottweiler / German Shepherd Cross.. Adella is full of energy who loves to bounce and talk when she gets excited.

Although she is a bit picky with treats she is still very food motivated, so training with her can be very easy! She can be protective of her people and home and has a very deep loud bark to tell people off, but she’s all talk.

She is a big cuddler and will lay her head in your lap for some ear rubs. Although Adella is friendly, with her size and excitability we think a home with older children would be best.

We are unsure how she is with cats fully but have shown a playful curiosity and interest towards some of them here. With proper introductions she is good with other dogs as well.

Adella’s adoption fee is $400.00 and she is not yet spayed so we require a $500 deposit to ensure she is spayed and you will received the $500.00 once she has been. She will also be microchipped, dewormed, deflead, and her first vaccine (we do not provide rabies vaccination).

She comes with a Welcome Package from VCA Island Vet as well as six weeks of free pet insurance from Petsecure. If you are interested in adopting Adella, please email us at nanaimo.animalcontrol@shaw.ca and we will email you a fillable application form. The successful applicant will be invited to come in and meet her.

Jesse

Update: As were getting to know Jessie more he is good with other dogs and eager to play, he shows interest in cats but more of a curiosity for them. Jessie is a peoples dog and loves hanging out in the office with us getting all the pets he can.

Introducing Jessie!

This handsome boy is a year and three month old coonhound. We don't know a whole lot about Jessie but what we do know is he is very sweet! He is a bit shy and timid at first but is easily won over by treats. Someone that can help Jessie come out of his box and learn some confidence would be ideal. Possibly with another dog to show him the ropes! He is young enough that he'll soak up training easily and with lots of positive reinforcement he'll open up quickly.

Jessie's adoption fee is $350, he is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, deflead, and and has his first vaccine (we do not provide rabies vaccination). He comes with a Welcome Package from VCA Island Vet as well as six weeks of free pet insurance from Petsecure. If you are interested in adopting Jessie, please email us at nanaimo.animalcontrol@shaw.ca and we will email you a fillable application form. The successful applicant will be invited to come in and meet him.
